Gustav/Ike Recovery Projects
The City of New Orleans has received notice that Orleans Parish will receive $1,982,628.00 from the State’s $1,058,690,549.00 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to assist in recovery and rebuilding activities within the parish as a result of the impact of Hurricane Gustav and Ike. The City of New Orleans is considering any one of the three potential projects proposed by the Public Works Department that will be open to public comment in October. The three proposals are:
- A street light asset management and monitoring program that would allow DPW to monitor street lights and outages .
- A Roadway asset management system that would electronically survey and rate every street in the City.
- The purchase of backup power generators for critical traffic intersections along evacuation routes.
