On Thursday, November 19, 2009, the City of New Orleans will host a Disadvantage Business Enterprise (DBE) and Small Business Conference to offer DBE participants and other businesses the opportunity to actively participate in the recovery of New Orleans.

The conference will be sponsored by WBOK 1230 a.m., Black Chamber of Commerce, The Urban League of Greater New Orleans and NewCorp, Inc.

The conference goals are to:
  • Increase certification opportunities for current and potential DBE owners
  • Educate business owners about the benefits of partnering with certified DBE’s
  • Increase recovery business opportunities for small business owners
  • Provide practical guidance and on-going opportunities for DBE and small business such as bonding, insurance, technical assistance
  • Strengthen the skills, knowledge and capabilities of the local workforce to increase their potential for secure employment
